Mrs. Katherine Wright, 92, of Valley, Al. passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Canterbury Nursing Home in Phenix City, Al.
Mrs. Wright is survived by her daughter, Marsha Askew of Valley, Al.; two grandchildren, Chris (Gale) Askew and Kim (Chad Smith) Askew, both of Valley, Al.; five grandchildren, Abbie (Adam) Young, Josh Walker, Jenna Walker, Will Smith, and Ryan Smith, all of Valley, Al.; three great grandchildren, Evan, Charleigh, and J.T. Young; sister, Jean S. Williams of Valley, Al.; brother, Austin Spear of Atlanta, Ga.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Wright; siblings, Ruby Nix, Helen Spear, Ralph Spear, Homer Spear, Oscar Spear, and Pete Spear.
Mrs. Wright was born on October 19, 1921 in Fairfax, Al. to the late Mary Lena McGlon Spear and William Chester Spear. She was a life long member of the Fairfax 1st. Baptist Church. She was a member of the first graduating class of Valley High School in 1941. She had retired from West Point Pepperell’s Lanett Bleachery and Dye Works Plant.
