Katherine Sarolta ”Sally” Kellum Jones Straw, 92, Anderson, died July 2, 2004, at Community Hospital, Anderson after a brief illness. She was born November 13, 1911, in Richmond, and resided in Anderson, since 1916.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Anderson First Friends Church. She was an avid Bridge player, a member of the local garden club, and a 50-year member of Wright Home Economics Club, and Buenos Amigos Study Club. She volunteered at both Community and St. John’s Hospitals and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was a past president of the Indiana State Amerian Business Women’s Association and a member of the Madison County Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association. In 1948, she served as the first female PTA president of Hazelwood Elementary School. She loved to collect figurines of beautiful birds.
She is survived by her Daughter: Sharon Jones & husband Donald T. Walker of Plano, Texas. Sons: Douglas L. Jones and Rodney T. & wife Bonnie Baker Jones of Anderson. Grandchildren: Jeffrey Walker, Mark & wife Dana Walker, Scot & wife Mary Walker, Tiffany & husband Mike Maier, Jason & wife Tammy Jones, Morgan & wife Molly Jones, Nikki Edwards, and Amy & husband Todd Hoagland. Nine Great Grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded by her First Husband: Ralph T. Jones, on September 25, 1958. Second Husband: Francis L. Straw, October 1, 1987. Parents: Harold L. & Jessie Faucett Kellum. Three sisters and seven brothers.
