Katherine “Kay” M. (Marchese) Farina, 99, formerly of Plymouth, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday February 3, 2022, at Valerie Manor. She was the widow of the late Benjamin Farina. Kay was born October 5, 1922 in Waterbury, CT, a daughter of the late Nicola and Rosa (Chironi) Marchese.
Kay experienced so many events of history, inventions of modern-day life and blessings of family in her nearly century long life. Before her retirement, she worked as a machine operator for Isely Screw Manufacturing. Kay loved her home on Lake Plymouth that her husband Ben built. For over 60 years, she enjoyed looking out over the lake, birdwatching and absorbing the peaceful surroundings.
Kay was devoted to her family. She hosted all the occasions and holidays, showing her love through food and comfort. Well into her 80’s, Kay was the ultimate hostess; her guests were never allowed to clear the table. She wanted them to enjoy the company and the food she prepared and not worry about work.
Left to cherish her love and memory are her son Jim and wife Linda of Prospect and daughter Sharon and husband Rick Daponte of Plymouth, grandchildren: Laurie Farina, Jimmy Farina, Jamey Hansen and husband Tom, Becky Nichols and husband Josh, Nick Farina, Eric Daponte and Alicia Daponte as well as great grandchildren Adam Farina, Jackson Nichols and Adelyn Nichols. Katherine also leaves her sister Angelina Ianicelli.
Kay was predeceased by her husband Ben Farina, brother Sam Marchese and sister Lena Sannizzaro.
