Katherine Bell Carr passed away to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 27, 2011 in the Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas. She was born on December 18, 1922 in Willow Grove, Texas. Katherine was married on September 29, 1940 and celebrated seventy years of marriage with her childhood sweetheart.
Katherine lived her life as a housewife and raised four children, not an easy task given that time period. Katherine was part of the “Great Generation,” she lived through the great depression, raised a family by herself for years while her husband was overseas fighting during WWII. She lived through the economic challenges of paying as much for a gallon of gas now as what a month’s supply of groceries cost back in the old days.
Katherine, like most of her generation, never gave up no matter what roadblocks or obstacles she encountered along the way. Katherine is survived by a brother, Ellis Vannatta of Salado, three sisters; Mary Newsom of Morgan’s Point, Leah Jennings of Missouri City, and Johnny Mae Hobbs of Corpus. Katherine is also survived by her children, Pat Aldridge of Dallas, Evelyn Reeves of Lewisville, and Bud Carr of Livingston. Katherine has 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Katherine was preceded in death by her husband Bobby G. and one daughter, Bobby Kay Wilson. Katherine was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Belton. She will be put to rest with her husband in the Texas Veterans Cemetery. She will be missed by her family and friends, but she willnever be forgotten. We’ll miss her wisdom, her smile, her bright eyes, and her biscuits!
