Katherine “Kae” Ewald Nielsen, 93 of Cromwell passed peacefully at home on October 9, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Howard F. Nielsen, Sr. Kae was born in Middletown CT on March 27, 1924 to the late Anna (Kelley) and William T. Ewald. After graduating from Middletown High School in 1942, Kae went to work for Prudential in Hartford and attended night classes at Hillyer College.
Kae and Howard, lifelong residents of Cromwell were high school sweethearts and married after Howards return from the Pacific Theater in WWII. Growing up on Court Street, they then built their home and raised their family there. Kae dedicated her life to her family. She was an active member of St.
