Katharyn Bernice (Madden) Bolland, 95, formerly of Dutton, died December 7, 2012, of natural causes. She resided in Great Falls at the Rainbow Retirement Center for the past 5 ½ years.
She was born July 17, 1917 in Great Falls to Bessie and Barry Madden. She married Russell Threlkeld in 1936. They had 2 sons, Paul and Gary. They later divorced. In 1949, she married Howard Bolland and they had one son, Denis.
She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church of Dutton, Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Great Falls, Dutton Senior Citizens and was a member for many years of the Diamond Valley Extension Homemaker’s Club. She attended Women’s Week at MSU Bozeman for 26 years. She was a former substitute librarian at the Dutton Library, and election judge, and worked for JC Penney and Hickory Farms many years ago.
She enjoyed crafts, gardening, traveling, reading, bingo, picnics, camping, making Lefsa and being with her grandchildren.
Katharyn is survived by her three sons: Paul (Connie) Threlkeld of Great Falls; Gary (Marlyn) Threlkeld of Watertown, Minnesota and Denis (Paula) Bolland of Malta. She has 5 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Bolland; sister Mercedes Siler; brother Angus Madden; parents Barry L. and Bessie (Lisenbee) Madden.
