Kasi Makara Anjali Olsen Richards Starkey passed away unexpectedly, at home in Roy, Monday Morning January 31, 2022. She was born November 27, 1988 in Calcutta, India. Kasi was rescued and adopted from an orphanage by Bonnie K. Olsen who adopted Kaylee shortly after in a similar manner, completing their small family.
Kasi was a bright, energetic girl with an infectious laugh. She lived life big and passionately. Those that know her will always remember her as a princess. She was involved in pageants, modeling, and was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Education was important to Kasi. This dedication stemmed from her schoolteacher mother, Bonnie. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Studies from Weber State University and was an excellent student. She married Joshua Richards, and their relationship was later blessed with the arrival of her son Nathan, the light of her life, #lovemybug. She and Josh divorced but were able to work together for Nathan’s benefit. On 10/10/2020 Kasi married Justin Jeremiah Starkey, gaining two stepsons, Dominic, and Jeremiah. Justin, Kasi, and their boys enjoyed many happy times together.
She was a hard worker and had many friendships which were important to her. Kasi was generous and loved everyone she met. She enjoyed traveling and seeing new places, finding beauty and joy in all things. Kasi loved football; you could always find her on the sidelines during autumn Saturdays fiercely cheering for Nathan and his little league football team. Kasi’s devotion didn’t just stop at sidelines; she was a Team Mom and she advocated for the Ute Youth Football League to come to the Clearfield area. She was a fan of BYU football, the Carolina Panthers, Colorado Rockies, and San Diego Chargers by association to help Justin feel better about his losing team. Kasi loved music and concerts; she was a Brad Paisley and Jason Aldean admirer. The Harry Potter and Avenger movies were her top picks to listen to as she falls asleep. Kasi had the biggest heart, so she loved a great many things; the list can go on.
Kasi is survived by her son, Nathan; husband, Justin Starkey; sister, Kaylee Olsen; nephew, Miles; and two stepsons, Dominic and Jeremiah. Kasi was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Olsen.
