Karon Sue (Brown) McCartney, 66, Greensburg, Indiana, went to be with her Savior on Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born on September 9, 1948 in Buckhannon, West Virginia, the daughter of Harry E. Brown and Edith (Whited) Brown. She was raised in Buckhannon and graduated from Buckhannon Upshur High School in 1967. She then attended Morgantown Beautician School and graduated in 1968.
Karon and Gary E. McCartney were married at the Buckhannon United Methodist Church on September 27, 1975. They made their home in Buckhannon until moving to Greensburg, Indiana in 1989.
Karon when living in Buckhannon was the owner of “Cut and Curl Beauty Salon”. After moving to Greensburg, she worked at the Heritage House, Blasdel Inc. as a secretary, and GECOM.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Gary E. McCartney; two sons, Gary E. (Christina) McCartney, Columbus, Dustin (Lisa) McCartney, Hope; one step son, Gary W. McCartney, Clinton, MI; four grandchildren, Rebecca McCartney, Desiree McCartney, Dinah N. McCartney, Jason D. McCartney, seven step grandchildren, Nickalas Kedrowitz, Monique McCartney, Damien McCartney, Phillip Warchock, Alexandria Warchock, Gabriella McCartney, Aiden McCartney; one brother, Harry “Buck” Brown, Weston, WV; one aunt, Delma Bailey, Hurricane, WV; three sister in laws, Shannon Bailey, Glenville, WV, Tootie Rexroad, Ireland, WV, Karen Bleigh, Walkersville, WV; one brother in law, Freeman (Kathy) McCartney, Lorain, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lela Jane Brown, Nancy Ann Brown, Noretta (June) Reed; sister in laws, Jill Brown, Charlotte McCartney; brother in law, Harold Reed.Karon enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling with her husband and spending time with grandchildren and other family.
