Karolyne “Kay” Ebert, 79, of Linden, passed away while in hospice care on Monday, February 21, 2022, at IU Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette after suffering for over a year with an undiagnosed neurological disease.
She was born August 9, 1942, in Frankfort, Indiana to the late Clarense and Opha (Clendenning) Douglas. She was a 1960 graduate of Rossville High School. On December 8, 1977, she married Kenneth Orville Ebert and he preceded her in death. Kay was a clerical secretary at Egyptian Lacquer until taking an early retirement.
Kay attended Sedalia Methodist Church as a child, and she also attended Sebring Methodist Church from 2014 – 2017. Kay and Kenneth lived in Sebring, FL from 1992 until returning home to Indiana in 2018. Once back in Indiana, she attended a few Sunday services with her family at Linden United Methodist Church and decided to become a member of the church.
Kay is survived by her stepdaughter, Judy (Dave) Ruppert of Linden; 12 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; 2 nieces and 1 nephew; as well as 2 cousins, one of which was also her best friend, Mary Nell Hiatt.
Along with her husband, Kenneth and her parents, Clarense and Opha; she was preceded in death by her stepchildren, Tracy N. Ebert and Treva Ardell Devers; a granddaughter, Andrea L. Ebert and great-granddaughter, Madelyn P. Ebert, and her brother, Charles Douglas
