Karolyn Kay (Tinnermeier) Smothers, 80, of Adel passed away on March 6, 2022, at her home at Adel Acres in Adel, Iowa.
Kay was born on April 26, 1941, to Lester and Bernadine (Rumbaugh) Tinnermeier in Newton, Iowa, where she lived most of her life. She attended country school near Agnes Patterson Park. Kay was a member of Jolly Workers 4H Club and Rainbow for Girls.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Cindy (Mark) Irvin, Connie (Rusty) Richardson, Louis (Julie) Smothers, and Shawn (Amy) Smothers all of Waukee; grandchildren, Amber (Edwin) Harris, Christopher (Kaurissa) Irvin, Lance Irvin (Taylor Woebbeking), Joshua (Becca) Ellis, Richie Richardson, Ethan Smothers, Austin Smothers, Nathan Smothers, Brooke Smothers, Abby Smothers; great-grandchildren, Cade Harris, Deven Harris, Breeya Harris, Eleanor Irvin, Jasper Irvin, and Paisley Riddle. Preceding Kay in death were her parents; son, Lester; sisters, Shirley Miller and Betty Shrum; and brother-in-law John Shrum.
