Karlene Ann O’Brien, 78 of Littleton Colorado passed away July 11, 2022.  Karlene was born in San Rafael, California, where her father worked in the Naval shipyards.  She grew up in Rochester, Minnesota. Karlene was a loving daughter to parents Viva and Carl Nelsen. She graduated from Mankato State University, She taught school in Austin MN until she accepted a teaching position in the Denver area.  There she met her husband Robert O’Brien.  She is survived by Robert W. O’Brien, her husband, two daughters: Christine Flores, and Anne O’Brien, brother: Richard Nelsen, and three grandchildren: Brien, Lillianna, and Stella. 

Karlene had a kind spirit and pure heart.  She was of the Christian Lutheran Faith. She was beautiful both inside and out.  She loved her family. Karlene taught school children how to read and loved to read books to them.  Unironically, Karlene loved apples.  She dedicated over 25 years teaching at Denver Public Schools. She loved to read the newspapers. Karlene was involved in local 4-H clubs and led the neighborhood dog 4-H club. She led a respectful life and was dignified even unto death, where she received her wings in heaven. Karlene never had an unkind word to say about anyone. She was a proud mother, loving wife, and wonderful teacher.  Karlene’s memories will always be cherished.
