Karl Michael “Goose” Fleming, 65, of Galesburg, died at 7:24 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2016 in the emergency room at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. Goose was born on September 3, 1950 in Galesburg, the son of Andrew C. and Ida Louise Summers Fleming, Sr. Goose married Patricia Gail Verscha on June 28, 1974 in Galesburg. Goose is survived by his wife Gail of Galesburg; one son, Jason Fleming of Galesburg; one daughter, Nicole Fleming of Galesburg; two brothers, Walter Fleming of Peoria and Glenn (Barbara) Fleming of Suwanee, GA; and two sisters, Caroline Finley of Galesburg and Paulette (Jerry)Gilmore of Geneseo.
Goose is also survived by three grand children, Breonika, LaShawn, and Malik McGee; and 4 great grandchildren, Camari, Cy’Rei, Chemya, and Xy’ele. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, David, one sister in law, Cheryl Fleming, and one brother in law, Lugene Finley. Goose graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1968. He worked for the City of Galesburg in the street department. Throughout most of his life, Goose worked for Fletcher-McDougald Funeral Home and Watson Funeral Home. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed watching old movies. Goose loved spending time with his family and friends and carried a great amount of pride in his family’s longstanding heritage in Galesburg.
