Karl Dan Rucker was born in Louisburg, Kansas, on September 8, 1933, to John M. and Mary (Chavez) Rucker. At an early age, the family moved to California where he graduated from Bell Gardens High School. For many years, he was called “Danny” by family and friends.
Karl joined the US Air Force and was stationed at various bases, including England, ending up at Mountain Home AFB where he was honorably discharged in 1956.
He met Virginia (Ginny) in Boise and they were married in Winnemucca, Nevada, on February 12, 1956. They recently celebrated sixty years of marriage. They lived in Anaheim, California, for several years where their two children were born, Kevin Scott and Camille Kay.
Karl always loved golf and began as a caddy at Rio Honda golf course in Downey, California, at the age of 10. He then played golf for the Air Force, but by his own admission “wasn’t inclined to work that hard”. Upon retirement, he became an active player at Purple Sage Golf Course, where he made many friends.
For many years, Karl was an avid square dancer, dancing many nights a week and took various trips to other states. His motto was, “I came to dance.”
Karl and Ginny spent a number of years “snowbirding” to Arizona. Another activity he enjoyed was playing pinochle.
Karl is survived by his wife, Ginny Rucker of Caldwell; son, Kevin (Robin) Rucker of Burbank, WA; daughter, Camille Rucker (spouse, Jeff Tresness) of Rainier, WA; grandson, Kyle Rucker of Richland, WA; granddaughter, Kara (Eric) Cox of Seattle, WA; sister, Rose (Kenneth) Van Maanen of Star; and brother, John M. (Beverly) Rucker of Buena Park, CA.
