Karl David Hovatter, 93 of Glen Burnie, Maryland died Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Renaissance Gardens at Charlestown Retirement in Catonsville, Maryland. He was born August 31, 1920 near Grafton, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Arlie and Laura Hovatter and was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth, Willis, Lester and Elbert; and his wife Martha Lee. After 62 years of marriage, Karl proudly served in World War II in the US Army and was a Veteran of the European and African Theaters. He was a member of the Boumi Shrine Temple and the Masonic Lodge in Glen Burnie. He loved to play golf with all his buddies, especially after his retirement after 42 years working for the CSX Railroad as manager of the materials department in Baltimore. He is survived by his daughter, Jane Haselhoff and her husband Bill of Southport, NC; his son, Karl Jr. and his wife Debra Lee of Harpers Ferry, WV and his son, Kent and his wife Linda of Ferndale, MD. He is also survived by one grandson, Mark Tuminello his wife Jamie and great-granddaughter Annabelle of Baltimore, MD. Karl is also survived by two brothers and three sisters. Karl was an active member of Faith Baptist Church in Glen Burnie.
