Karen Virginia Headrick, loving mother, bonus mom, partner, and dear friend passed away on November 16, 2020.

Karen’s superpower was her ability to see the good in everyone and to help them see goodness in themselves. Her faith in humankind, and belief that good trumps evil was infectious. Her unwavering effort to make the world a better place is best summed up by a phrase she used to repeat to her children every day—no matter how old: “Be good, be kind, be careful. Look both ways before you cross the road, don’t swear, and don’t get mad.” We would add—wear a mask and care for your fellow humans.

Karen is survived by her loving partner, Mr. John Rogers, and his family; her brother and sister in law, Mark and Sharon Webb, son and daughter in law Scott and Gena Headrick, daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Lisa Meeks-Yedid and Mr. Albert Yedid,  Dr. Jeanine Tanz and Mr. Robert Tanz, and daughters, Dr. Tammy Evans, and Dr. Tonia Headrick.

In addition to being a mother, Karen was an incredible “Nana.” She lived for her grandchildren, Kaitlyn Rabinovitch, Christopher Burgoon, Courtney Headrick, Alexander Jacob “AJ” Tanz, Samuel James Tanz, Lucas Evans, and Micah Evans. In the last few years, she was blessed with the addition of her first great-grandchild, Charles Dov Rabinovitch, a grandson in law, Joshua Rabinovitch, and multiple bonus grandchildren including Hannah, Isaac, and Olivia Rogers, and Eli Gerdes.

Karen fancied herself a gypsy, but we liken her to more of a fairy godmother, looking over and blessing all the people she knew. She waved a powerful magic wand and with a “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” you knew everything was going to be ok.

With eternal gratitude and love,
Your tribe
