Karen Sue Shafer, 61, of Elkhart, passed away at home Friday, November 28, following a courageous lifelong battle with Huntington’s disease.
She was born in Elkhart on April 29, 1953, to Donald E. Schalliol and Joanne (Griggs) Schalliol Schneider.
Survivors include her mother, Joanne of Elkhart; her lifelong companion of over 25 years, Richard “Dick” Weesner; her daughters, Cameron (Phil) Howard of Elkhart, Michelle (Steven) McCauley of Franklin, Texas, and Sirhonda Jackson of Constantine, Mich.; her sister, Sharon (Tom) Whitehead of Elkhart; her brothers, Billy Joe and Daniel (Brenda) Schalliol, both of Elkhart; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father.
