Karen Scott, 85, passed away on November 30th, 2020 in Twin Falls Idaho. Karen was the daughter of Herbert Grant McCowan and Eunice Cleveland McCowan Harrison. She was born on May 29th, 1935. She was the 4th of six children.

After graduating from High School in Dietrich, Idaho, Karen then married James Alva Scott on July 29th, 1952. They were seal for time and eternity on July 2nd, 2009. They had 4 children. Ronald, Brenda, Debi and Brad. Together they raised their family in Shoshone, Idaho.

Karen worked a number of different jobs. She drove potato truck for Herb with blocks of wood that Jim had strapped to the pedals so she could reach. She worked at the Frosty Isle, gas station, Sawtooth Food store and was a Coordinator at the Tupperware plant.

Karen was a person everyone loved to be around. Her laugh would brighten anyone’s day. She showed her family how to be compassionate and loving to everyone. She was a natural care giver for anyone who needed a place to live, rest to collect themselves, or a safe haven. She cherished her neighbors by helping the elderly and adopted any of the kids as grandchildren.

Karen loved the outdoors. She loved her big garden but the only time you ever found her in it was when the peas were ready to eat. She loved to camp with her family and extended family. She always seemed up to an adventure on any camp trip. Most of them were unintentional but she had a knack for causing them. Anyone camping with her soon learned to call her grandma which tickled her. Karen was always scared of water but loved to fish. Jim bought a boat to broaden her fishing experiences, but could never convince her to cook or eat any of the fish.

Karen loved any family get togethers and the more the merrier. At times there was so many of us stuffed in the house that we would end up sitting on stairs or in bedrooms, but we were together and that was all that mattered to her. Mom was a food pusher as Becky called her because you could never go to her house and not eat. She had her mother’s sweet tooth and everyone knew if you wanted on her special list then Almond Roche was the ticket. Don’t expect her to share any of that though.

You could always tell what Karen was doing by her clothing or face. If covered in floatation devices, she was fishing. If grinning from ear to ear, she was sitting in front of a hamburger with a pepsi. If scowling, someone had snitched a french fry.

Karen was an ANGEL here on earth that has just returned home. She will be missed by those of us left behind.

Karen is survived by her children- Ron, Brenda, Debi (Jim Ruth) and Brad (Becky); brother Randy (Dorene). She was the proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She left behind many nieces and nephews that she loved with all her heart.

Karen was preceded in death by: her mother Eunice and father-Herbert; brothers Herb-Kenneth-and Richard McCowan; sister-Elaine Hall; nephews- Chad and Jordan McCowan.
