Karen Lynn Stanley, age 52, of Midland, VA passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016. She was born on July 31, 1964. She loved working with and supporting Special Olympics, the ARC programs. Helping others is what she did, it made her happy. A kind, gentle and loving person who greeted everyone with a smile and hug. Putting others needs before hers was her life. She was a lover of all living creatures. Her smile, her tenderness and her loving heart will forever be missed. She was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle (Hawkins) Stanley and one sister Anna Sue La’phair. Survivors include her life partner of 34 years, Raymond S. Gilbert; one son, Christopher Gilbert; three step-sons, Beau Puckett Gilbert,, Aaron Gilbert, Steven Gilbert; four sisters, Kay Richardson, Sandra Gray, Deloris Powers, Pamela Domica and a special friend Tina Gaskins. She is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
