Karen Kaye Carter-Wise, 57, of Edinburgh, IN passed away peacefully on May 3, 2022 at Johnson Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.

She was born August 5, 1964 in Indianapolis, IN to Jack Carter, Sr. and Ida (Mackey) Carter. She attended Northwest High School in Indianapolis. She was a homemaker her whole life. She enjoyed spending time with her grand-kids whenever she had the chance. Those of you who had the chance to know her knew that she was one hell of a “Hell Raiser.” When something was bothering her, the whole world knew. She was the most strong-willed woman to walk this earth.

Her daily news was scrolling through Facebook to see what was going on in the world. She got to become a great-grandma for a short time. She only knew how to cook for an ARMY since she had six kids. There was enough for everyone. If you had the chance to be in an argument with her, you were privileged and loved. She had a heart you just had to know. She would tell you how it was whether you wanted to hear it or not. She was the true definition of tough love. She loved to go to the casino and concerts. Steak bagels from McDonald’s were her favorite and she was longing for the day they came back. You would have thought she was from the jungle as much as she loved plants.

Karen is survived by her mother, Ida Carter of Indianapolis; sons, Robert Miller, Jr. of Indianapolis and Matthew Miller of Franklin, IN; daughters, Ashley (Bobby) Jessie of Edinburgh, Alysia Wise of Edinburgh, Amber (Shaun) Locke of Indianapolis, and Bobbie Jo (Zach) Smith of Whiteland, IN; sisters, Michelle (Denny) Nelms of Mooresville, IN, Vicki Carter of Indianapolis, and Freida Doyle of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Kathy Carter of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Robert “Little B”, Chase, Ashten, Jesse, Robert “Frog”, Jasmine, Destiny, Noah, Ayedren “AD”, Chloe, Karli, Liam, Oliviah, Stanley, Raelynn, Wyatt, Miah, Abel, and Leighton; several nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunts.

Karen was preceded in death by her father, Jack Carter, Sr.; brothers, Jack Carter, Jr. and Wilbert Carter; her great-granddaughter, Oaklee Wise.
