Karen Kay Hoover McDermeit, 78, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother passed away on November 17, 2021. Karen was known for her love of family, music, her kindness, her ability to make everyone feel important, and her loyalty to those she loved.

Karen had a deep passion for music and a beautiful singing voice. She performed at many special occasions and was always happy to accept a request. She loved reading and shared this love with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed many vacations in Red River and motorcycle trips around the country with her husband, Clay.

Karen attended Southwestern College and Central State University. She was a licensed daycare provider and small business owner. She retired as a manager with FedEx Business Center in Albuquerque.

She is survived by her husband, Clay McDermeit, her daughters Lisa and Darcy, and grandchildren Cecilia and Isabella. She also leaves her cherished sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Lyle Pearl, her sister-in-law Kay Harris, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Isabel Hoover, sister Velda Walsh, brother-in-law James Walsh, and brother-in-law James Harris.

The McDermeit family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff at Morningstar Senior Residence and Kindred Hospice Care.
