Karen Kay Frasco passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 20th, 2021, after a three-year battle with cancer. Karen was the loving and beloved mother of five, grandmother of eight, and great-grandmother of three.
Born in Los Angeles, California, on January 1st, 1938, Karen was a California girl through and through. But she loved and enjoyed her adopted state of Colorado and its mountains.
Her relationships were enduring, strong, and cherished – with her sister, Debra Sue True; her cousin, Roberta Martin, and her friend of 55-years, Fran Bartmann.
After marrying her husband, John, Karen gave birth to the joys of her life – son, Ron; daughter, Lori; a son who died at birth; son, Dennis; and son, Michael. She also had eight grandchildren – four by Lori and Randy: Zachary, Daniele, Nicholas, and Katie; two by Michael and Leigh Ann: Koby and Alec; two by Ron and Barbara: T.J., and Emily; and three great-grandsons by Zachary: Quinton, Chase, and Jack.
If one were to use a single word to describe Karen, it would be … ‘fun’. She enjoyed life to the fullest and made every effort to ensure that family and friends did too. She pursued her passions with zeal – whether it was Taos, Jazz, her mountain drives, or any other loves – of which there were many.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Edwin P. Kemp, her mother Dorothy A. True, her former husband, John, and her second son, Dennis.
