Karen Kathleen Harkins passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022 at the age of 74, following a brief battle with cancer.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Rose Williams.
Karen is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Wayne, who cared for her always; her adored son Todd Mason (Diana); precious granddaughters: Stephanie Mason, Allison Montano (Mark); great grandchildren: Isaiah, Lauren, Aubrey, cousins: Pat and Don Augspurger and Bob and Laura Davis. Karen especially loved her three little dogs: Buddy, Sissy, and Annie, and her step dogs: Abby, Bailey, and Max.
She was born on October 16, 1947 in Albuquerque to Bill and Rose. Karen was raised in a loving Christian home. She attended Manzano Day School, Jefferson Middle School, and Valley High School. Her passion was for animals of any kind, but especially dogs and horses. She showed Palomino Quarter horses from age 11 through her 20’s winning many major horse show competitions during that time. Karen also did modeling jobs for many of the major department stores in Albuquerque. She later worked as a medical secretary. She was a strong Christian and freely professed her faith in Jesus to everyone she encountered. For the past 10 years, she and her husband Wayne attended Fellowship Christian Reformed church. Karen was a regular attendee at the lady’s bible study.
