December 15, 1940 – August 28, 2015

Karen Jane Fletcher was loved by everyone and respected as a spiritual healer and counselor. Her strong spirit was freed from her body on Friday, August 28, as she lost the battle with heart disease that she had fought for more than 15 years. She was born in Carnegie, Oklahoma on December 15, 1940 to Merle Fletcher Henslee and James Fletcher. She lived at various times in Carnegie, Yokohama, Washington D.C., Norman, Leander & Wichita Falls, where she made many, many friends. She moved back to Boerne, Texas, on retirement to be near her children and grandchildren. Her first great-grandchild Jaxon brought her great joy in her final year. She is survived by her children, Morgen Bernhard (Rodney Jennings), Eric Stauber (Robin) and Samuel Stauber (Andrea). She was blessed with seven grandchildren, to whom she was affectionately known as Yayo: Haley and Erin Bernhard, Sydney, Emma, Boone, Ian, and Clare Stauber; and one great grandchild, Jaxon James Chapmond. She took great pride in her grandchildren and always made time for their activities. She also leaves behind 8 siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. Karen was an adventurer, living life without hesitation and accepting of all who came across her path and of what life brought her. She was a fiercely protective soul, with an inner fire that burned brightest around her grandchildren. She loved dancing and wagon trains most of all and we are grateful for the memories. Karen was an Indian spirit, and we all know she is home, riding the plains on her favorite horse Lincoln, with her dog Smiley running by her side.
