Karen Hale Anderson, age 79, of Boise, Idaho, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, October 27, 2022.
Karen was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 24, 1943 to McKay and Marion Hale. She had a happy childhood but always felt picked on because she had four brothers and no sisters! However, each of her brothers developed a special relationship with her and treasured her influence in their lives. They were some of her best friends. In adulthood, she felt blessed to have wonderful sisters-in-law Gayle Hale and Mary Hale who became choice friends and sisters. Karen also rejoiced that Heavenly Father gave her four daughters and two sons.
One October day in 1964, a handsome young man named Ted sat next to her in the Institute foyer and her life would never be the same. They immediately felt a connection, and Karen enjoyed her time with him so much that she skipped her dentist appointment that afternoon so they could continue talking. Their courtship continued, and they were married and sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on June 30, 1965. They recently celebrated their 57th anniversary.
Karen and Ted lived their first 14 years of marriage in Hunter, Utah where their six children were born. In 1979, they moved their family to Boise, Idaho where Ted was assigned to teach at the Boise Institute of Religion. The family made many wonderful friends throughout the next 43 years.
Karen loved and served the Lord faithfully — without reservation or hesitation. She was especially adept at listening to others, focusing on each personally without judgement, and winning many friends.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce McKay Hale Sr. and Marion Solomon Hale, and her brothers Randy and Bruce. She is survived by her husband Ted, and her children Melanie [Steve] Burch, Michael Ted Anderson, Jennifer [Brian] Huffaker, James McKay “Jim” [Marji] Anderson, Cathy [Roman] Yoder, and Carolee [Jake] Price, 28 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren as well as her brothers Ron [Mary] Hale and Gerry [Mike] Hale. She is beloved and will be deeply missed by her family.
