Karen Esther Matlock, 82 went home to be with Jesus on June 24, 2021, at Karen Acres Health Care Center. Karen was born on March 27, 1939.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents Marlowe Creswell Anderson and Alma Grace Lowe Anderson, and also her husband William Matlock of 29 years.
Karen had a heart so big there was always room for one more. Her care, compassion, and love for the needs of others fit perfectly as she was RN Nurse Manager at the VA hospital for 30 years. Karen was blessed with so many gifts and talents, her artistic side produced so many beautiful pieces. Karen’s Kreatives was Karen’s arts & crafts business. For many years she sold her arts and crafts at the Iowa State Fair and won many awards.
Karen made the first Quiltlets for the J.O.Y. (Jesus Over You) ministry. Karen taught us how to pin, tie and quilt hundreds of small quilts to be given and sent to those who needed a touch from God. Karen was lots of fun, loved her Lord, and loved her many friends- she never saw a need that she didn’t try to fulfill.
Karen is survived by her brother David M. Anderson, his wife Doris Anderson, niece Deborah Martinez and her family, and her many Quilters and friends.
