Karen Dobbins, 55, of Galien, Michigan died Wednesday night, March 12, 2014 at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles, Michigan after an illness. Karen was born September 9, 1958 in Michigan City, Indiana to Harold and Patsy (Taylor) Paulson. She grew up in New Buffalo and graduated from New Buffalo High School in 1977. Karen was a caring person, so when she began working in healthcare as a Candy Striper it was no surprise.

She became a Hemodialysis Tech in the Kidney Unit at Laporte Hospital which later became Nephrology Inc. On October 26, 1991 she married Jerry Dobbins in Three Oaks. They made their home in Galien. Karen was a tomboy all her life and enjoyed being outdoors. She had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed 4 wheeling or riding a Harley. She was an animal lover and was especially fond of her Great Pyrenees and Australian Shepherd.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry; mother, Patsy Paulson of New Buffalo; sister Brenda (Les) Wycoff of Three Oaks; and brother Ricky Huffman of New Buffalo; step son Jerry Dobbins Jr. of Bridgman; and 2 step grandchildren. She also leaves many friends, family and most of all her precious dogs Chico and Glacier. Her father preceded her in death.
