HAVERHILL – On the afternoon of Saturday September 3rd, Kalope “Kay” (Makroglous) Souliotis’s spirit was peacefully lifted from this earth into the arms of her beloved husband Mi-chael “Mickey” T. Souliotis, Sr., loving son Michael, Jr., her parents Nicholas and Kula (Drougas) Makroglous and her brother John, all who had passed from this world before her.

She first met her love Michael at the “Mayfair Tea Room” in Haverhill where she worked as a waitress. They were engaged throughout WWII and where married on September 2, 1945.

Kay was born April 12, 1923, raised in the “Bradley Brook” countryside section of Haverhill, and graduated from Haverhill High School. She was worked for many years as a top-stitcher at Eastern Canvas in Haverhill after which she enjoyed her many years of retirement from age 62 with her children, grandchildren, friends and neighbors.

The last years of her life were spent at the home of her daughter and her husband, Sandra and Joseph Turner on Plum Island. There she enjoyed the fresh ocean air on the porch, the amazing skies, the birds and garden outside her bedroom window where she could see her American Flag blowing in the breeze. She was proud first generation American from Greek parents who immigrated to America from Turkey, she recited the pledge of allegiance and sang” God Bless America” every morning. The world was a better place because of her, and we can only hope that those whose lives she brought into this world, the generations that follow, and all those whose lives she touched and transformed can carry on her legacy of love and kindness to all.

Kay’s surviving family members include her loving daughters Carrie (Souliotis) Law and husband Robert of Haverhill and Sandra (Souliotis)Turner and husband Joseph of Plum Island; cherished grandchildren Jared Law of Haverhill, Nicholas Souliotis and wife Amanda of Amesbury, Joseph Turner, Jr. and his wife Mica of Buenos Aires, Argentina and Plum Island, Jonathan Turner of Plum Island and Jennifer Law of Haverhill; great-grandchildren Audra, Elijah and Na-talie Souliotis, Fiona (Law) Ayles and Oliver Turner; aunt to Cheryle Farrar and Jonathan Makroglous both of CA; and dear friend to Eleanor Nisbett of Haverhill and Cheryle Follansbee of Newburyport; daughter in-law Patricia (Blouin) Souliotis of Methuen.
