Our valiant son, Kadun Conway Budge, was born on March 2, 2000. After a year and a half battle with Epithelioid Sarcoma, he graduated with the highest honors from this earth on March 16th at his home surrounded by his family. He had just celebrated his 22nd birthday.
Kadun came to our family in 2008 when he was eight years old. He became the middle child of seven adopted siblings. He was sealed to his parents and siblings in the Ogden temple. Our extended families welcomed him with open arms and have been invaluable in Kadun’s life. They have celebrated his triumphs, cried with him when he felt defeated, helped to make his dreams happen, and have always believed he was a warrior. He couldn’t have had better grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins to call his own and to stand behind him. ‘They had his back’.
Kadun attended Hillcrest Elementary, North Ogden Junior High, and Weber High. He graduated from Two Rivers High in 2018. He held many jobs, but loved working at Pizza Hut the most. He appreciated his boss Adrienne letting him continue to work when he could, while he battled cancer.
Kadun was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He felt loved and supported throughout his life and during his fight with cancer by his incredible ward. He was strengthened by their many prayers. Kadun loved Young Men’s, cub scouts, and the scouting program. Some of his fondest memories are hikes and camps with his scoutmasters, Roger and Monty. He was proud to earn his Eagle Scout award and loved his mentor, President Tyler Kunzler. One of the happiest days of his life was when he received his endowment at the Logan temple. That night the temple president told Kadun he would serve a different mission than other young men. This mission has now begun.
Kadun had a big heart and was one of the friendliest souls. He had a “hello” and a hug for everyone he met, which stayed with him throughout his life. He enjoyed playing the piano and taking lessons from his Aunt Glenna. He played football at North Ogden Jr. High under coach Short where they played for the championship. He was a big fan of anime and Japanese culture. His dream was to become a mixed martial arts fighter. He enjoyed a good game of chess. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. His favorite thing to do in life was to eat baked goods and drink gallons of chocolate milk while holding his cats: Pepper and Lucky.
We would like to thank the amazing staff, incredible team of nurses and doctors at Primary Children’s Hospital. Kadun looked forward to seeing his oncologist, Dr. Matthew Dietz, every week. He guided us through this extreme challenge. Kadun was on hospice care only a short time but we appreciate the loving care given to him by our angels Julie, Anna Marie, and Dr. Moore.
Kadun is survived by his parents, Brad and Tammy Budge (Ogden); and his birth mom, Amanda. His siblings, Christopher Budge (Amy), Kimball Budge (Kaitlyn), Cora Arnold (Duncan), Jakob Budge, Angel Budge, and Joey Budge. His niece, Brooklyn; and nephew, Link.
