K. Joanne Serry, 87, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021 in her home at Serry Farms.
She was born on January 17, 1934 to the late Gail C. “Tinny” and Jennie Elaine (Fuller) Merrill in Eau Claire, MI, and has lived in New Carlisle for the last 65 years, coming from Berrien Springs, MI. Along with her parents; she was also preceded in death by her husband, Oscar E. Serry and a son, Richard O. Serry.
Joanne graduated in 1952 from Berrien Springs High School in Berrien Springs, MI.
On October 26, 1957, as K. Joanne Merrill, she married Oscar E. Serry in St. Joseph, MI. He passed away on January 31, 2006. Joanne was a devoted farm wife, homemaker, mom, grandma, and great grandma.
Joanne is survived by her two daughters, Lisa A. (David) Jesswein of New Carlisle, IN; Laura J. (Bruce) Vermillion of Plymouth, IN; three sons, Jerry L. (Diane) Serry of New Carlisle, IN; Scott M. (Theresa) Serry of Galien, MI; Michael A. (Joleen) Serry of New Carlisle, IN; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren (and two on their way); and three sisters, Vennetta “Tootie” (Jerry) Saitz of Berrien Springs, MI; Carla “Susie” (LeRoy) Hauch of St. Joseph, MI; and Julie Patzer of Watervliet, MI.
Joanne was a member of the former Olive Branch United Methodist Church in Galien, MI for over 65 years.
