Jutta S. Leheis, 86, of Bethlehem and formerly of Herrnhut, Germany, passed away Saturday, March 10 in St. Lukes Hospice House, Lower Saucon Township. Born in Dresden, Germany, Jutta was the daughter of the late George Paul Alfred Weber and Maria Margaret (Braun) Leheis. Jutta received a B.A. from Moravian College in 1963, Magna cum laude. She also received her M.A. from Brown University in 1965 and her Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1974. Jutta was a professional translator, interpreter and Aide-de-camp for the Defense Language Institute in Monterrey, CA and taught at Boston University, Heidelberg College and Amherst College. She was a member of both the Moravian College and Brown University Alumni Associations. Jutta was a member of Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem and was active with the Moravian Archives and the Moravian History Society.
