Justin James Meier ”Jay Dawg” was born on October 3, 1977, in Seattle, Washington, and currently resided in Frankton. His love and devotion for his family and friends was evident to all who knew him.
He was a man that never met a stranger and was in many ways a big brother to us all. He was the jokester of the family, which made every time with him a memorable event. Growing up, he was a member of Boy Scout Troop 322. In his high school years, he enjoyed working summers at Camp Kikthewenund with younger scouts. During his years at Anderson High School, he played the tuba and trombone with the band.
He worked for approximately 3 years in security and as a first shift Fireman at Delphi E. In recent years, he devoted much time as a volunteer firefighter for the Frankton Fire Department, and worked actively with the Frankton Fire Prevention Team. In pursuit of his dreams, he had taken many classes to further his knowledge in the areas of firefighting, safety, and rescue.
Justin’s memory will live on forever in the hearts of all he touched. Survivors include: Mother, Damita Jo Meier of Chesterfield; Father, James Michael Smith of Puyallup, Washington; Sisters, Shelena Y. Meier of Indianapolis and Sandy Smith of Granite Falls, Washington; Maternal Grandmother, Marlene Y. Duncan of Chesterfield; Aunts, Cynthia Conrad of Alexandria, Sandy Lott and Gayle Smith, both of Seattle, Sara Rybka of Fife, Washington; Uncle, Pete Rybka of Fife, Washington; Cousin, Callie Conrad of Alexandria; Special Aunt and Uncle, Linda Crites and Bill Crites, both of Washington. Also surviving are special friends; Bill, Julie, Kylie and Serenity Hudson, all of Frankton, his wonderful friends and comrades at the Frankton Fire Department and all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandfather, John Joseph Rybka Jr., and Paternal Grandparents, Fred Smith and Elaine Cook.
