SAM CRESS Junior “Sam” Woodrow Cress, 68, entered into peaceful rest with his loving family by his side, after a terminal illness, on the late evening of June 21, 2013. Sam was born the eighth child of the late Audis G. and Gertrude B. (Johnson) Cress, on November 25, 1944, in the family home in Masontown, W.Va. On March 3, 1967, Sam married his loving wife of 46 years, Wendy Lee (Metheny) Cress. Sam had a work history which includes many years as a truck driver, also worked at Interstate Lumber Company, restored and painted cars, and owned and operated Cress Recycling, with his son. He was a US Army Veteran. Sam enjoyed spending time with family and friends and hanging out at home, going to auctions to socialize, and riding his side-by-side ATV. Sam leaves behind his wife, Wendy Cress, sons Michael Allen Cress and his wife Jennifer of Massillon, OH ; Jeffrey Allen and his wife Lisa of Masontown, WV ; daughters Sharon Sue Maxon and companion Dave Uphold of Fairmont, WV, Sandra Cress of Fairmont, WV, and Tammy White and her husband Chuck, a sister, Jerri Metz and her husband, William of Masontown; and brothers, Dale C. Cress and his wife, Diane of Masontown, Mr. Donald C. Cress and his wife, Virginia of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Sam also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren; Angela_Hall ,Nathan Maxon, Bobbi Uphold, Kevin “Ray” Cress, Samantha Cress, Morgan Cress, Tracy Cress, R. “Cress” Earp, John Cress, Cody White; Ashley Currey, Kelsey Polk, and Michael Meade; one great granddaughter Addison Hall; and four step great grandchildren, Alasiya Strother, Aniya Strother, Akiyra Currey and Nathan Polk. Sam was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter Kimberly White; three sisters, Wanda Cobb, Virginia Lowdermilk, Dorsey Walters; and a brother, Audis J. Cress.
