Our dad, Junior Herald White, was born in Buckhart, MO on February 4, 1926 to Herold R. White and Bulah C. Herron White. He passed away peacefully at Life Care Center of Valley View on May 9, 2014 with his family at his side. Dad left home at a young age and enlisted in the U.S. Navy just one day shy of his 18th birthday on February 3, 1944. He served his country proudly until he was honorably discharged on January 30, 1947, receiving a letter of recognition and appreciation from President Harry S. Truman. Dad followed his younger brother, Howard C. White, to the western states area and became quite smitten with his brother’s wife’s little sister, Betty Rose Foreman. They were married on November 18, 1955 and were blessed with five children. They were married for 54 years until mom’s passing in 2009. The two brothers and the two sisters were an amazing foursome and blended their families almost as one. Dad taught us how to work hard and play hard. Camping, hunting and fishing were his favorite types of play. Horsethief Reservoir above Cascade was a favorite camping and fishing spot where he even became a camp host for a couple of seasons in his later years. After many, many years as manager for Pullman Brick, and Northwest Stone and Tile, dad retired but couldn’t stay away from the business and went to work part time at Boise Stone and Tile just a few blocks from his home.
