Junior slipped thru the Veil of Life, Monday, November 15, 2021 at the age of 91. He was born April 21, 1930 to Arch and Sylvia Storey in Ogden Utah. He was the eldest of five children. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, belonging to the Taylor Ward.
He attended Ogden City Schools. He later moved to Orem where his father worked at Geneva Steel. They returned to Ogden where he went to Ogden High.
At an early age he met his “Freckled-Face Sweetheart” Marie Wold. They dated for three years and were married in Preston, Idaho on August 18, 1950. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on April 23, 1971. Soon after their marriage, Junior was drafted into the U.S. Army from February 1951 to February 1953, during the Korean War Era, receiving an Honorable Discharge.
Junior was a hard worker. He taught his family to work hard and to enjoy it. While working for Swift’s meat packing company, Junior co-owned and operated Sinclair Gas Station on 7th and Washington Blvd. Dad continued to work for Swifts until they closed down. He then went to work for Parks Meats. When they closed down, he went to work for Weber County. He later worked for Weber County Schools at West Weber Elementary as head custodian before retiring. When he finally retired, he was able to enjoy fishing, hunting and camping.
Junior was a “Bull-Dogger”, in the rodeo. Dad loved horses and Chariot racing. He was a member of The Beehive Cutter Racing Association. He was also a member of the National Quarter Horse Association for many years.
Junior always loved attending the High School Wrestling meets of his sons and his grandsons and was looking forward to the third generation of Storey Wrestlers.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Richard, Pete and his sisters, Joyce and Der’ell. He lost the love of his life of 55 years, Marie in 2006. His eldest son Michael and a grandson Bill.
Junior is survived by his children Diane (Wes, deceased) Shelton, Lynne Gill, Debbie (Oliver) Bennett, Mark (Stephanie) Storey. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
He lived at the Garden Assisted Living for a few years, our family wishes to thank and give gratitude for the care and service given to Junior. He spent a brief time at “Our House”, the family gives thanks to all the staff for his care and treatment while there. He passed away while living at Willow Glen Rehabilitation Center. Our family wishes to extend our great appreciation for the love and care he was shown there from all the staff. Thank You!
