June Johnson Mickey, 82, Anderson, passed away September 15, 2009 at her residence. She was born August 9, 1927 in Decker, Indiana, where she graduated from Decker High School and Vincennes University. While at Vincennes University, she met and married her beloved husband, William “Bill” Mickey.

After moving to Anderson in 1960, she returned to school at Ball State University, obtaining a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in education. She retired from the Anderson Community School System as an elementary school teacher after 26 years of service.

After retirement, she worked at Stewart’s Furniture and volunteered at The VITA Tax program. June was a lifelong and dedicated member of New Horizons United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynn and husband Jim Eagle of Ft. Wayne; son, William Alan & wife Judy Mickey of Naples, Florida; twin sister, Jean Davis of Vincennes; grandchildren, Joseph & wife Nicole Galbraith, Jamie Galbraith, Kalen Mickey and Kyndal Mickey; great granddaughter Lauren Galbraith; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William on August 6, 1977; parents, John G. & Vietta Heacock Johnson; siblings, Doris McCormick, Emma J. Purcell, Dot Elmore, Carol Burkhart, Carl Johnson and Pascal Johnson; three nieces and one nephew. Visitation will be from 4-7:30 pm on Friday, September 18, 2009 at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel; 200 W. 53rd Street; Anderson.
