June Smith Whitley, age 86, of Moreland passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020. She was born on June 6, 1933 in Griffin, GA to the late George Henry Smith and the late Carrie Lou Chappel Smith. Mrs. Whitley worked as a bookkeeper for many years with First American Bank and with many other banks as it merged. She loved time spent with her family and was fond of writing poetry. She spent a lot of time in her greenhouse where she grew many different rare beautiful flowers. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Claude Whitley; a son, David Whitley; and all of her siblings: Aaron Smith, Dewey Smith, Herbert Smith, and Ruth Wilson. She is survived by her cherished children, Cheryl Whitley and Glenn Whitley; a sister, Hazel James; and the legacy of 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
