Julius Melvin 69 of 1788 Old Mintz Hwy. passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville.

Julius was born on May 18,1952 in Roseboro, NC to the late Jule and Ivellow Melvin. Julius graduated from Roseboro-Salemburg High School in 1972. After high school, Julius joined the United States Air Force which he retired from after serving 21 years. While in the Air Force, Julius received many awards to include: AF Good Conduct Medal with Four Oak Leaf clusters, AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon with Three Oak Leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, AF Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with Oak Leaf cluster, AF Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, AF training ribbon, AF Outstanding Unit Award with Oak Leaf cluster. After retirement from the Air Force, Julius was employed at IBM in Durham, NC.

Julius was preceded in death by his parents, Jule and Ivellow; five brothers; Jake, Haywood, Charlie, James, Jimmie; and two sisters, Pauline and Annie.

Julius leaves three children to cherish his memory; two sons, Mansa of Dallas, TX and Juwon (Eva) of Denver, CO; one daughter Rhesa (Micah) of Los Angeles, CA as well as one grandson, Julian. Julius is also survived by two brothers, Thornie (Bettie) of Raleigh, NC and Bobby (Kathy) of Roseboro, NC; two sisters, Ruby of Roseboro, NC and Sue (Earl) of Clinton, NC along with a host of very dear and special nephews, nieces and friends.

Julius had a giving heart and a ministry to serve others. Julius also had a love for children and the elderly. He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his loved ones on family game day and any other opportunities that time allowed. Julius took pride in being a self-proclaimed Phase 10 Champion.
