Julius George Kerekes Jr., age 89 of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Stella Kerekes, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport on January ll, 1928, he was the son of the late Julius George Kerekes Sr. and the late Mary Kerekes. He graduated from Bassick High School, earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the Citadel, and received his Master’s degree at Central Connecticut State University. During the Korean War, he was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas where he met Stella. They wed in 1953 and were happily married for 56 years until her passing in 2009. He worked as a ballistic engineer for Remington Arms after the war and later became a professor of mathematics at Norwalk State Technical College for 30 years.
