Julieta “Lilly” Brabante Zonkel, 78, of Bloomington Indiana received her angel wings on Monday April 15, 2019. She was born on October 31, 1940 in Luzon Philippines. Daughter of Christina Brabante Caluya and Felix Branbante. Julie attended University of the East High School and Santa Isabel College in Manila, Philippines. In 1967 she moved to Oxnard, California and attended Ventura College majoring in Foreign service and planned to become a flight attendant until she met the love of her life the late CW03 Joseph Page Zonkel at a bowling alley. On April 20th 1968 they married in Port Hueneme California. She was actively involved in the Navy Officers Wives club and was stationed in different parts of the world. As a Navy spouse of 24 years Joe and Julie retired to Bloomington, Indiana where she worked at Monroe County Bank, Monroe County Clerks Office and finally at Unity Physicians Group until retirement in 2007. She enjoyed bowling with Joe, introducing friends to her traditional Filipino cuisines, flower arranging, Mahjong and spending time with family.

Julie is survived by the joys of her life, her children: Christine Bernice Zonkel, Joe Paul Zonkel (Emily Harlan) and Mary Rose Pitman (Jeremy); her grandchildren “The five musketeers” Kylan Joseph Pitman, Asa Reid Pitman, Ronin Pierce Harlan- Zonkel, Griffin Pace Harlan- Zonkel and Silas Pike Harlan-Zonkel. She is also survived by her beloved sister Alicia Branbante Dayao and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, step-father Cornelio Caluya and her brother Romeo Brabante.
