Julieta was born in Chile as the eldest daughter of Violeta and Julio Bedoya. The young family moved to Peru where two younger sisters were born, Helena and Maria. Julieta went to the American school in Lima, Colegio Franklin Roosevelt, where she learned to love her second language English and the American culture. She was very adventurous and became an exchange student, studying at Converse College in South Carolina. After returning to Peru, Julieta met and married George Skokan and together they had two children, Julie and George. Julieta worked at the University of Miami for many years, eventually graduating with a UM bachelor’s degree and later joyfully retiring to enjoy her golden years. She loved her grandchildren fiercely and was profoundly proud of them.
