Julie Tymkow Age 98, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017. Julie was born July 16, 1919 the oldest of four children born to Wasyl and Mary Mylo. Survived by:  Daughter-in-law Catherine; Grandchildren Andrea (Matthew) Raney and Ryan (Kristie) Flynn; four Great Grandchildren; beloved nieces Paula Swanstrom and Marcia Senek and a great niece Lauren (Pete) Sansone.

Preceded in death by her Husband Michael Tymkow, son Tony Alan Tymkow and  her siblings: John Mylo, Ann Mylo Gresko and Kathryn Mylo Senek.

Julie graduated from Hammond High School Class of ’36 and attended the University of Miami-Ohio. During WWII she worked in purchasing at a military base in Ohio and after the war returned to Illinois, marrying Michael Tymkow in October 1946.

She worked for Havestone Manufacturing as a bookkeeper, where she retired after 40 plus years of service. She was very active in, and was a founding member of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Pro-Cathedral, Hammond, Indiana where she was a member of the Sisterhood of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, a member of the church choir, and in charge of Sunday School programs. She hosted Ukrainian-language radio programs on WJOB radio station.

Julie was a staunch democrat, a fabulous cook, meticulous record keeper, and loved to go to Florida in the winter. Her favorite TV shows were Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
