Julie Marie Casteel, 73 of Grottoes, VA, entered eternal life peacefully, on the evening of Thursday, May 7, 2015, in her home with her family at her side. She is reunited with husband Robert Richard Casteel of 45 years, father and mother, Johnny R and Ova Marie Funk, and the good Lord above after her valiant fight with cancer. She blessed this world on February 12, 1942 in Preston County, WV, born at home.
Julie was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Her entire life’s work was devoted to the care of her family and friends. Her greatest joy was her family. Throughout her life, she blessed many with her strength, faith, kindness and compassion during her 73 years. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her smiling, laughter, and love, will never be forgotten. Julie enjoyed the little children, gardening, sewing, bluegrass music, and walking her dog.
Her spirit is carried on by her faithful companion, Jasmine, and four children, daughter, Teresa Michele West and husband Lloyd, of Conroe, TX; and three sons, Robert L. Casteel and wife Chauna, of Grottoes, VA; Keith J. Casteel and wife Delta (Dee Dee), of Grottoes, VA; Kevin V. Casteel and wife Lisa of Lancaster, VA; seven grandchildren, Misty Lynn Dean and husband Greg, Shane Eric Casteel, Daryl Tyler Casteel, Jacob Aaron Casteel, Kelli Lynn Casteel, Sloan Mason Casteel, Ember Raine Casteel; four great-grandchildren, Nicole Dawn Miller, Austin Michael Miller, Haylei Alexis Miller, Colton Tyler Dean; one brother, Larry Carl Funk and Shirley, of Kingwood, WV; four sisters, Jean Hahn and Paul, of Tunnelton, WV; Joann Shaffer Edwards and Nelson, of Marquess, WV; Wanetta Kennedy, of Eastman, GA; and Victoria Linton and Robert, of Charleston, WV; many nieces and nephews, and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms, prayer and/or visits, neighbors, and even random acts of kindness through total “strangers”.
