Juliana (Julie) Theresa (Halsema) Devine, age 88, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2021 . She was born in Minster, Ohio on January 19th, 1933 to the late John and Constance (Durbin) Halsema. Julie is preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years Thomas J. Devine and by her three sisters, Mary Bresnen, Sr. Corinne Halsema, OSF (Rita), and Margaret Troyan. After graduating from Rosary High School in Columbus, Julie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business from The Ohio State University. She went on to work as the women’s accessories buyer for Lazarus, where she met Tom. She left Lazarus several years later to start a family. While raising 5 kids, she worked at St. Catharine School as an administrative assistant and later joined Tom in his business when he established Devine Foods, a fine foods brokerage. She loved dining out, Aaron Rodgers, playing cards, family vacations, and all sports, especially her Buckeyes. It was rumored anyone within a mile of Julie could hear her cheering (yelling?)for her beloved Buckeyes in both football and basketball, win or lose. Just this year after Ohio State beat Clemson by 3 touchdowns in the National Championship semi-final game she called to the TV “Do you still think we are #11, Dabo?!” She is survived by her children Timothy Devine, Michael (Marcia) Devine, Marybeth (Doug) Hubbard, Patty (Randy) Beers, Paul (Robin) Devine; 4 grandchildren Channing (Cory) Madigan, Logan (Lauren) Hubbard, Max and Finn Devine; and 4.75 great-grandchildren Jackson, Rose, Henry, Wade, and ?. The family would like to thank the Zangmeister Cancer Center (Dr. Tarek Chidiac) for taking such wonderful care of her these last three years and Mt Carmel Hospice for allowing her a peaceful and dignified end to a blessed life. She and Tom have been long-time members of St. Catharine Parish in Columbus.
