Julian Scott Griffin was born on October 2, 1973 in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Columbus Public Schools and graduated from Beechcroft High School in 1992. He joined the United States Navy where he served on the USS Kitty Hawk and received an honorable discharge. Julian enjoyed sharing stories with his Navy buddies about the great times in the Navy.

At a young age, Julian accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He was baptized at Tabernacle Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Dr. Odell Waller.

Julian was employed at Rickenbacker Airport where he was loved and respected. He led a vibrant and happy life until he was recently diagnosed with Scleroderma, a rare autoimmune disease. He fought a good fight until he became tired.

He was a master of jokes and loved to make everyone laugh. Julian loved his family, eating, drinking, and having fun. He was a huge fan of Penn State (“We Are Penn State”), the Cincinnati Bengals (“Who Dey”), and Kobe Bryant; and he made sure everyone knew it.

Julian passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2020. He is preceded in death by his father, Marcellus Griffin; and grandmother, Mildred Mapp.

Precious memories of Julian will be forever cherished by his mother, Barbara J. Valentine; siblings, Adrian (Renea) Garnes, Hedi Griffin, Dianna (Herbert) Henderson, Phillip Valentine, Jeffrey Valentine, and Mark (Theresa) Valentine, all of Columbus; nieces and nephews, LaTasha, Phillip II, Shyla, Herb II, Joel, Heather, Will, Mark II, Alicia, Tammy, and Tonya; a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
