Julia Marcella (Antanaitis) Steeves, 91, of Plainville, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center in Plantsville.

Julia was born and raised in Waterbury on January 7, 1920, the only child of the late Walter and Leonora (Mikalatis) Antanaitis.  Raised in Waterbury, she attended local schools, and married Vincent Steeves at the age of 19.  They relocated to Plainville in 1952, where they raised their three sons, and maintained a three-family home of which Julia was quite proud.  She was a woman who was ahead of her time, strong willed, feisty, and always well dressed.  A member and Past President of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, she enjoyed playing BINGO, and was known for her excellent dancing skills, especially the Polka. Shortly after her husband’s passing in 1976, Julia met her true love, Al Deprey.

She is survived by her sons, George and his wife, Elfriede, “Elfie”; David and his companion, Judy Rabtoy, and Gary and his wife, Rozlyn Lechten; her many grandchildren, including Deanna, Karen, Aaron, and Jeffrey, with whom she shared a special bond; and her many great-grandchildren, including her pride and joy, Michael Vincent; and many step grandchildren and extended family.
