Julia Knapp Peirick, 89, of New Buffalo, Michigan died Saturday morning, December 26, 2009 in Three Oaks, Michigan with her daughter by her side. Julia was born May 1, 1920 in Hammond, Indiana to Louis and Elizabeth (Feketa) Dubroka. In 1940 she married Albert G. Knapp Sr., he preceded her in death in 1961.
Julia and her husband owned Al Knapps Restaurant in Roby, Indiana which she continued to operate after his death, retiring in 1976. She found love again when she met John Peirick, they made their home in New Buffalo. John preceded her in death in 2003. Julia was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Church in New Buffalo and St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Three Oaks, Michigan.
She enjoyed her dogs, was a tremendous cook, and loved to entertain. Survivors include her children, Ceceila (Homer) Smith of Whiting, Indiana; Kathleen (Robert) Hawk of Munster, Indiana; Albert (Bunny) Knapp of Port Jefferson, New York and Julie (Ronald Jr.) Schroeder of Three Oaks; 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and her sister, Elizabeth Lager of Schererville, Indiana.
