Mrs. Julia H. Jones, age 105, of Lanett, Al., passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at EAMC Lanier Nursing Hoime in Valley, Al.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her seven nieces and nephews, Gary Huckaby, Richard Huckaby, Sherry Pecchioni, Richard McCollough, Peggy Hamilton, Herbee Pilkington, and Jill Cavin; eight great nieces and nephews, Kelly Pilkington, Christy White, Barbie Hill, Christy Tanner, Barry McCollough, Danny Holcomb, Brandi Herron, and Jeff Benson; lifelong devoted friend, Marian Longshore Hollis.
Mrs. Jones was born on February 14, 1909 in Eclectic, Al. to the late John and Mollie Huckaby. She attended Lanett High School where she graduated as Valedictorian in 1927. She had a deep love for caring for others and was able to share her smile and charm when she became a successful hairdresser. Julia then married Mr. Fred Jones and they resided in Mountain Brook, Al. for several years. After returning to Lanett, and upon Mr. Jones passing, Julia was able to achieve her lifelong dream of being a caregiver for others at several different nursing homes in the Lanett / Valley area. She was also retired from Lanett Mill. She was an avid gardener, a devoted choir member at Lanett Congregational Christian Church, and loved to play the piano.
