Julia E. Betty Short, 89, of New Carlisle, IN, formerly of Lydick, IN, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2006, in the LaPorte Hospital. Julia was born on November 25, 1916 in Peoria, IL, to John and Helen (Tengerdy) Toth. She was a homemaker, and had been formerly employed with the Studebaker Corporation and OBrien Paint Company. On January 5, 1941, as Julia E. Toth, she married William B. Short, who preceded her in death on February 13, 1982. Also preceding her in death were three sisters, Irene, Johanna, and Helen; one brother, John; and by one grandson, Tony Weiger. Survivors include three sons, Jerry (Sue) Short of Elko, NV, Dan (Pat) Short of New Carlisle, IN, and Dave (Ruth) Short of South Bend, IN; one step-daughter, Maureen (James) Wieger of Mission, TX; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews.
