Julia Anna Gill Finley was born on June 16th 1934. She was called home by her Lord and Savior on October 12th 2012. She was the daughter of Dewey and Annie Gill. At the age of two, her mother passed away leaving “Paw Gill” to raise her and her 3 sisters in Mangham, LA. She fell in love with W.F. “Billy” Finley and was wed on December 7th 1954. Billy and Julia had 3 children, Mike, Kim, and Brent. She was completely devoted to her family and her unyielding faith in God impacted each and every one who knew her. “She was my mama no matter what.” Brent Finley. “She was the sunlight on a cloudy, cloudy day. She would always find the silver lining inside those clouds.” Kim Romero. “She always saw the good in everyone.” Mike Finley. The testaments of her children reflect the way she lived life. She loved her family beyond measure, the joy she possessed was evident in her optimistic outlook, and the love of Jesus Christ was seen through the way she treated all that she had contact with.
Retirement from the USDA-ASCS office was not the end of her work.
