Julia Ann “Dood” (Carmody) Johnson, 89, of Newington, wife of the late Carl H. Johnson, daughter of the late John J. and Kathryn A. (Callahan) Carmody, passed away at her home on October 2, 2013. She lived in Newington all her life and was a member of St. Mary’s Church where she attended Bible Study groups and was a Catechism teacher. Julia Ann was also a member of various community organizations including: Literacy Volunteer Group of America, American Field Service (Exchange Student Host) and the Girl Scouts of America. She was the Newington High School Valedictorian for the Class of 1942 and took pride in organizing class reunions. She always felt safe and loved in the Newington community. Her presence will sorely be missed by her family: son, Carl and his wife Susan of Hopkinton, MA; daughters Kate Berg and her husband Judd of North Eastham, MA; Jean McOwen and her husband Paul of Northfield, MA; Nancy Keefe and her husband Ron of Great Falls, VA. She also leaves her grandchildren: Courtney and Scott Vitale, Joshua and Jessica Johnson, Adam McOwen, Molly McOwen and Craig Cook, Bryan Berg and Lauren Richardson-Berg, Ted Berg and Erin Donovan, Jonathan Keefe. Great-grandchildren: Nevada McOwen, Robin McOwen and their mother Renee McOwen, Matthew Vitale, Ciara Johnson, Liam Johnson and Ronan Johnson. Other loves include her devoted caregiver, Keneshia Rowe, her sisters-in-law Kathryn Rott and Elizabeth Pfeiffer and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Kathryn Lawson.
